“After completing my A Levels, I joined the family business, running a convenience store in Camden, North West London. Having worked here for many years I felt that I needed a change of career. That’s why I decided to apply to Imperial Tobacco for a Sales Development Executive position.
It was useful to have that experience of retail. Today I call on around 280 independent retail outlets in my territory. It’s a role that involves building sound customer relationships with independent retailers – helping them to be more aware of our portfolio of brands and how best to display them.”
Achieving targets
“It’s a challenging, focused role. There are cascade targets to achieve and maintain, and also specific distribution drives on key brands throughout the year.
I believe that having self-confidence and awareness is key to achieving these targets. You need this to build trust and relationships. And of course, excellent communication skills, as well as good organisational skills, are vital in my day to day role.”

“For me, it’s all about achieving and exceeding business goals by being allowed to manage my own territory in a manner that suits my working style. I really enjoy what I do.
