I used to work for another leading FMCG company as a sales rep but had a friend that worked at Imperial Tobacco who told me all about it. I then met other people in the industry who all raved about the company. I knew that they had a high profile in retail outlets and offered excellent training and career advancement opportunities. When the advert appeared in the local paper it was an easy decision to make to send my application. I was delighted when I was offered the job and I can honestly say that I've not been disappointed in any area and all of my initial perceptions of the company have been spot on.
I manage a team of 9 sales people. My team visit licensed and alternative outlets to improve availability and position of our brands. I am responsible for recruiting, training and developing my team. We have targets to hit at varying frequencies and it is up to me to split these between team members and lead and update them through the year to ensure we reach our goals.
I am lucky enough to have worked in the field and in Head Office. On both sides their is a real team spirit within areas/departments and the wider sales force/office. I have always found that there is real appreciation for honesty and encouragement to voice opinions even when they are not the same as every one else.
This is a great company to work for. If you are ambitious and work hard opportunities will be available to you. The company is committed to my personal development and I am now a HoReCa (Hotels, Restaurants and Cafes) Field Manager.
