It always pleases me to hear new people joining our Company say that we are friendly and approachable; we certainly encourage everyone to express their views and we welcome new ideas that help to improve our business. We value people who work hard and give of their best, and having that attitude is a pre-requisite to joining the team. This essentially describes our culture.
Our Sales Force is often referred to as the seedbed for our organisation because so many Reps progress and move into other parts of the business. I started my career as a Rep, doing a similar job to that of the Horeca Reps now. During that time I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to complete a number of secondments in head office, mainly in our sales operations department, which gave me a great insight into the internal workings of the organisation.
Then I attended my first management assessment centre and was successful in becoming an Area Merchandising Manager covering the North West of England (that's a few years ago now!). My next job was Area Sales Manager in the Midlands, and then I completed a short stint overseas working in Gibraltar before returning to the UK to become a Regional Sales Development Manager, looking after key regional accounts and training. After a few years doing that job I became Regional Sales Manager for Wales, the Midlands and the North West. It was at this time that I decided that I would study for an MBA, so I enrolled at Warwick University on their part-time course, sponsored by the Company.
My next move was to my current role, National Field Sales Manager, a job which I thoroughly enjoy. One of my main responsibilities is to make sure that everyone has clear goals that are based on a thorough understanding of the market place, that's where all good performance starts. Another of my responsibilities is to make sure that we have the right people positioned to take the business forward and helping people to develop and achieve their potential is very rewarding. In order to fulfil these objectives I spend a lot of time in the field and at team meetings talking to people and seeing for myself what is happening.
We all work together to make our Company better, it's the people who make the organisation great and everyone makes a difference in their own way. Our Company values its people highly and rewards them well, and we're always looking for new talent to add value to our business. Come and talk to us and see if you like what you see.
