The training offered by Imperial Tobacco is often quoted as one of the key factors in people's decision to join the company and you will be given extensive learning and development opportunities right from day one
During the first six months with the company you will embark on a program which is designed to help you gain a clear understanding of our business, develop new skills and fulfil your potential.
This begins with a 6 week induction program that is a combination of knowledge and skill based training. It is a residential training course that is supported with field based learning and it is fair to say that it is a comprehensive and demanding program; requiring time away from home and a focused and organised approach. You will be assigned a mentor who is an experienced Representative, and alongside the Area Manager and a team of Field Trainers, they will be on hand to offer advice, guidance and moral support.
Following the initial 6 weeks you will work on a territory where you can begin to take responsibility for the business within that area with continued support and guidance.
During the first six months your progress will be assessed and discussed with you following reviews in the field. At the end of this period there will be further training given to provide additional skills that will enable you to manage and develop the business within a territory. This will be bespoke to your needs and the needs of the business in the area you will work, it may be formal classroom style training, workshop based material or field based. All of our training programs are designed to provide knowledge and develop the skills that are essential to achieving success in a highly customer focused environment
We want to see you make the most of the talent you bring to Imperial Tobacco and we will do all we can to help you realise your potential, although ultimately the responsibility for fulfilling that potential will rest with you. The growth of our business depends on the development of our people and the approach they take when faced with challenges and opportunities.
