Top tips when applying
Do
- Do be honest.
- Do allow yourself plenty of time to complete the form.
- Do explain any gaps that you may have in your employment history, for example if you took three months out to go travelling we would like to know this.
- Do show enthusiasm and tell us about any major achievements or successes you have had.
- Do re-read your application before finally submitting it, checking you have completed all the necessary sections.
- Do spell check your document.
- Do ensure your contact details are correct, if you are invited to an interview you will be contacted by telephone initially, therefore please check the details you are giving us are up-to-date.
- Do indicate the best time for us to call you for your telephone interview, we can call outside of normal office hours so if you would prefer an evening telephone interview please state this on your application.
Don't
- Don't rush the application. The application is your first contact with us and as a result it is the first impression we have of you, so don't rush the completion of it, consider the answers you give to the questions carefully.
- Don't lie on your application form, our interview process is thorough and you will be asked to elaborate further about information you have provided throughout the process, so make sure you are as honest as possible.
- Don't exaggerate. We will ask to see your exam certificates so don't exaggerate your exam results. We will also ask to see your driving licence (both parts) during the recruitment process so be truthful on the application form about any driving endorsements you have incurred. If we offer you a position we will also undertake a driving check with the DVLA.
- Don't undersell yourself.
- Don't use text speak. ' i wd spk 2 the mgr abt it l8r' is not what we want to see, it is unprofessional and inappropriate in an employment situation and will instantly form a negative impression for the person reading your application.
